Next day, early morning
Mass had held her t!ghtly all night, his gr!p firm yet pr0tective, as though she was the only thing keeping him gr0unded. His bre@th had been warm @gainst her hair, his arms cag!ng her in as if shielding her from the world.
As the first rays of sunlight crept into the room, Mass woke up. His gaze softened as he looked at her sleeping form, the traces of dried te@rs staining her delicate cheeks. He reached out hesitantly, wiping them away with a tenderness that contradicted his actions the night before.
Mass: "You look so beautiful and innocent while sleeping."
He placed a lingering k!ss on her forehead, inhaling the fa!nt scent of her sk!n.
Mass: "You are so brave, my little warrior. I will never leave you."
"I know what I did was wrong, unforgivable even, but I had no choice. I have to leave today, and I don't know when I will return. The thought of you moving on, of someone else taking my place, is a risk I cannot take. But I swear, I will make you love me."
"I will turn your 'I hate you' into 'I love you.'"
From today onward, you are my life. I will protect you at any cost, and if needed, I will lay down my life for you."
His voice was raw with emotion, but he knew words meant nothing after what he had done.
He reluctantly pulled away from her, got up from the bed, and freshened up. With one last glance at her, he stepped out of the room, the door creaking slightly behind him.
The house was eerily silent as he moved. He brought food, placing it gently on the table, as if compensating for his s!ns. He laid out new clothes on the bed, along with a neatly folded note and a car key. Then, without another word, he left.
---
KK stirred awake, the sh@rp ache in her body making her gr0an. She sat up, disoriented, the events of last night crashing into her mind like a vi0lent storm. Her heart c|enched, her thr0at t!ghtening.
She reached for the nearest fabric and threw it over her trembling frame-his shirt. It smelled like him. She h@ted how it gave her a twisted sense of comfort. Her hands clutched her head as a dull pa!n pounded against her skull.
She scanned the room-empty.
Her che$t ached. He left after taking everything from me.
A lone tear escaped her eye before she angrily wiped it away. Her gaze shifted to the bed, where a set of new clothes rested, accompanied by a note. Her fingers hesitated before picking up the paper.
---
Letter: "I know you are furious, and you have every right to be. I don't expect forgiveness, but I need you to understand-I will never abandon you.
I had to leave for work, but I promise I will return in three months. My phone will be off, but if I don't come back by then, tell your father-he will find me.
When I return, I will take whatever
pun!shment you deem fit. Until then, please, do not take your anger out on y0urself or any0ne else.
Wear these clothes, eat breakfast-I left it on the side table. The car key is there as well. If you don't want to go to college, it's fine. I own the college, so don't worry about it.
Stay safe. Stay healthy. Don't cry.
I will be back in three months."
---
Her grip on the paper tightened.
She changed into the clothes numbly, picked up the car key, and walked out. The drive back to her apartment was a blur, her mind a whirlwind of emotions-rage, betrayal, sorrow.
As soon as she reached, she stormed into the bathroom, stripping off her clothes in disgust. She turned on the shower, letting the scalding water cascade down her skin, hoping it would wash away every tr@ce of him.
But it didn't.
Memories of last night c|ung to her like an unsh@kable cu®se. She scrubbed her b0dy h@rshly, her nails d!gging into her sk!n, but nothing could er@se his t0uch.
A sob tore from her thr0at as she c0llapsed onto the cold tiles, her body sh@king with cr!es that no one would hear.
After an hour...
She slowly l!fted her head from the cold, h@rd bathroom floor. Her limbs felt he@vy, her thr0at dry. With a deep, sh@ky bre@th, she f0rced herself up, gr!pping the edge of the s!nk for support. Her f!ngers trembled as she reached for the b@throbe hanging behind the door. The moment the soft fabric t0uched her skin, a sh!ver ran down her sp!ne-not from c0ld, but from the memories c|awing at her mind.
She stepped out into her dimly lit bedroom, the silence pressing down on her like a weight. The air smelled of lavender, but it fe|t suff0cating. As she stood in front of the mirror, her he@rt pounded in her che$t.
Purple-®ed m@rks, vivid and undeniable, marred her skin-his m@rks. The evidence of last night, of his d0minance, of his t0uch. Her eyes d@rkened with fury. Her na!ls dug into her p@lms as rage bubbled inside her, thre@tening to sp!ll over.
She let out a f®ustrated s¢ream and stormed toward the b£d. Her hands reached for the nearest object-a lamp. Without a second thought, she hurled it @gainst the wall. The glass shattered, the cr@sh echoing through the room. But it wasn't enough.
She gr@bbed the pillows and flung them across the floor. She yanked the sheets, tangling them into a chaotic mess. Her bre@ths came out in h@rsh g@sps. The wooden table caught her attention next. With a sh@rp k!ck, she sent it cr@shing aga!nst the floor. The mug and glass on it t0ppled, splintering into tiny sh@rds.
"YOU'RE GONNA PAY FOR IT, YOU MAN!AC!" she roared, her voice laced with anger and pain.
But the walls didn't answer. The silence only m0cked her suffer!ng.
---
On the other side...
Mr. Kaif: What happened to her?
Aaisha: We don't know, Dad. She left with Mass last night, and since then, we haven't been able to contact her.
Abhimanyu: What happened between them?
Nargis: Should we call Mass?
Mr. Kaif: He's on a mission right now. His calls won't go through.
Ali: We have no choice but to wait.
---
Three months later...
She barely spoke. She barely smiled.
Kk had become a shadow of herself.
She only sent short, robotic messages to her father, assuring him she was "fine." But she was anything but fine. The dark circles beneath her eyes, the hollow look in them, the untouched meals-all screamed the truth she refused to acknowledge.
Lonel!ness had become her only companion. @nger was her lullaby.
She had not been feeling well for weeks. Her b0dy felt s|uggish, weak. At first, she b®ushed it off as stress. But as the days passed, the exh@ustion deepened.
Then came the n@usea.
And she could no longer !gnore the signs.
---
At the hospital...
She sat on the cold examination table, her hands gr!pping the edges t!ghtly. The white walls felt like a pr!son. The air smelled sterile, devoid of warmth.
Her heart pounded as the doctor walked in, holding a file.
Doctor: Congratulations, Miss Kaif. You are pregnant.
Her entire world stopped.
Her breath hitched. Her fingers clenched.
Pregnant?
Her wide eyes darted toward the report in the doctor's hands. With trembl!ng fingers, she grabbed it, scanning the words over and over.
Her vis!on blurred.
Doctor: Don't worry, Miss Kaif. Your baby is healthy.
She didn't respond.
She didn't cry.
She didn't smile.
There was just... nothing.
She walked out of the hospital in a tr@nce. The weight of the news pressed aga!nst her che$t, suff0cating her. The cool breeze k!ssed her sk!n, but she couldn't feel it.
Her ap@rtment welcomed her with its usual empt!ness.
She sank onto the couch, lost in thought.
On one hand, an overwhelming w@rmth spread in her che$t. She had always loved children. She had always dreamed of becoming a mother. The thought of a tiny heartbeat inside her, a life growing within her, should have made her the happiest person in the world.
But then... she thought of him.
Of that night.
Of the @nger, the power, the lack of choice.
Her hands curled protectively over her stomach.
Tears bu©ned her eyes, but she refused to let them fall.
---
That night...
She lay in b£d, staring at the ceiling, her thoughts a tangled mess.
Then, in the d@rkness, she made a decision.
"I won't let my baby suffer the way I did."
She knew what it felt like to grow up incomplete. To long for something that was never there.
She wouldn't let that happen to her child.
No matter what, she would protect this baby.
"Don't worry, my love. I will do anything to keep you happy."
A small, broken smile touched her lips.
For the first time in weeks, she closed her eyes.
And this time, she s|ept.
Next day, at college
Abhimanyu: "Oh, finally! You're back, Mass. We were so damn worried about you. Even KK-she hasn't shown her face till now."
Mass: "I know... She texted me. She wants to meet me."
KK approaches them, her steps quick and determined.
Aaisha: "Are you okay? Why are you so distant from us?"
Nargis: "Do you have any idea how much we were worried about you?"
KK doesn't answer them. Her eyes lock onto Mass with bu®ning intensity.
KK: "I need to talk to you. Right now."
Without waiting for a response, she grabs his hand and pulls him toward the parking lot.
---
Parking Lot,
As soon as they reach the empty space, KK shoves Mass hard against the car. Her hands tremble with fury as she throws a crumpled piece of paper at him.
KK: "Look at this. LOOK AT IT! Do you even understand what you've done?!"
Mass unfolds the paper and scans through it. His face remains unreadable.
Mass: "So?"
KK: "So?! That's all you have to say?"
Her breathing turns erratic, @nger bubbling beneath her skin.
KK: "You're the father of this child, Mass! What do you expect me to do? Just pretend like this never happened?!"
Mass takes a deep breath, then looks into her eyes with unwavering resolve.
Mass: "Marry me."
KK freezes, her heart pounding aga!nst her ribs.
KK: "You're joking, right? This isn't a d@mn fairytale, Mass. This is real! My life is falling @part, and you're saying this?!"
Mass suddenly steps forward, gr@bbing both her wr!sts and p!nning her aga!nst the car. His gr!p is firm yet controlled.
Mass: "I'm not joking."
Before she can protest, he cr@shes his l!ps aga!nst hers-fierce, desperate, consuming. He bre@ks the k!ss just as quickly, pressing a hand aga!nst her he@ving che$t.
Mass: "Relax... I mean it."
KK's pulse races. The f!re in her eyes intensifies as she sh0ves him away with all her strength.
KK: "Don't you d@re do that again! I swear, I will r!p you @part!"
Mass takes the h!t without moving, his expression unwavering.
Mass: "What do you want then? If you think ab0rtion is an option, let me make this clear-it's not. This child is mine too, KK. If you want to raise it alone, that's unfair-to the baby, to me."
KK clenches her fists, her emotions w@rring inside her.
KK: "Then what the he|| am I supposed to do?"
Mass: "Marry me. Let me take responsibility for you and our child. Trust me."
Her thr0at t!ghtens. She turns away, unable to meet his eyes.
KK: "I... I have to talk to my dad."
Mass: "Then let's go. If he agrees, we'll get married today. And tonight... we leave for Australia."
KK's bre@th catches, but she says nothing as she gets into the car. Mass follows, starting the engine.
---
KK's House,
The moment they step inside, Mr. Kaif looks up. Relief and concern flood his face.
Mr. Kaif: "Oh, finally! You're here. Where have you been? What happened to you?"
KK takes a deep bre@th, steel!ng herself.
KK: "Dad, I need to tell you something."
Mr. Kaif's expression d@rkens slightly.
Mr. Kaif: "Go on."
She glances at Mass, then back at her father.
KK: "I want to marry him."
The room falls into a thick silence.
Mr. Kaif: "What? Are you sure?"
KK: "Yes. And I want to do it now."
Mr. Kaif studies his daughter for a long moment before sighing.
Mr. Kaif: "If that's what you want... I have no objections. Go to your room. I'll arrange everything."
KK nods and turns to leave, but Mr. Kaif's gaze shifts to Mass, his voice lowering into something more dangerous.
Mr. Kaif: "I don't believe it. Surya, what are you doing to my daughter?"
Mass meets his gaze without flinching.
Mass: "Don't worry, Mr. Kaif. She's my responsibility now. And please... don't mention this to anyone in the mafia world. I won't risk her life. When the time is right, the world will know about our marriage."
Mr. Kaif exhales heavily, running a hand through h
is hair.
Mr. Kaif: "I hope you know what you're doing."
Mass doesn't answer. Instead, he looks towards the staircase where KK just disappeared.
Is she really going to marry him?
Or is she planning to run?
Does she love him?
To be continued...
