Chapter - 11

Kk is still sleeping. Her body curled slightly beneath the warmth of the blanket, her cheek resting softly on the pillow. After a few minutes, her eyelashes fluttered, and she slowly woke up. As her vision adjusted, she realized—she was we@ring his sh!rt. Her heart skipped a beat.

He wasn't there.

A wave of dread crashed over her. Her mind, uninvited, dragged her into a pa!nful memory—the last time she woke up like this, in his

sh!rt, only to find a note left behind and him gone for three whole months. Her breath hitched. Panic gripped her chest.

She threw the blanket aside and rushed downstairs, her heart pounding like a warning drum.

She felt a rush of relief flood her chest when her eyes landed on him—there he was, standing in the kitchen, casually stirring something on the stove. Without thinking, she ran to him and wrapped her @rms tightly around him from behind, pressing her cheek against his back, her body trembl!ng slightly.

Mass: "You awake."

He didn't hear a word from her.

He turned around, puzzled, only to see her eyes filled with silent worry. He gently held her wa!st and, with a soft g®unt, l!fted her and placed her on the kitchen slab, facing him.

Mass: "Why are you looking tense?"

Kk: "You weren’t there so..."

Mass: "So you thought I would leave you again."

She looked up at him, eyes wide and vulnerable, and gave a small nod. Her silence said everything. He pu||ed her close and wrapped his arms around her in a protective embrace.

Mass: "Don't worry, Kat. That day... will never come again."

He k!ssed her forehead softly, letting the warmth of his words soothe her.

Mass: "Wait for 15 minutes. The food is almost ready."

Kk: "You know how to cook?"

Mass: "Just taste it once, and you’ll become a fan of my cooking."

Kk: "What did you make?"

Mass: "Your favorite—pasta."

Kk: "You knew I love pasta?"

Mass: "I know every detail about you."

She blinked, taken aback by his words.

Kk: "It’s like... this has become a one-sided love. You know everything about me, and I don’t even know what business my husband runs."

He chuckled, the sound deep and carefree.

Mass: "After lunch, you can ask me anything you want to know about me."

Kk: "That is... reasonable."

He spre@d her l£gs gently, stood between them, and lea]@ned in to k!ss her, deeply, hungr!ly.

After a few moments, she broke the k!ss, catching her bre@th.

Kk: "Are you still not satisfied after what happened last night?"

Mass: "No, I’m not."

Kk: "Do you even know how much it hu®ts? I can’t even feel my l0wer b0dy."

Mass: "I’m sorry... but I warned you. I lose c0ntrol when I’m with you."

Kk: "You're not being reasonable now."

Mass: "What should I do? It's just... so h@rd to resist you."

Her cheeks flushed with a sudden blush at his words, and she looked away, shy yet smiling.

He picked her up and gently placed her on a chair before serving her a plate of pasta.

She took a bite, eyebrows lifting in delight.

Mass: "How’s it?"

Kk: "It’s amazing. So tasty... I’ve never had pasta like this before."

Mass smiled, his chest swelling with quiet pride at her reaction.

After the meal, he sc00ped her up in bridal style.

Kk: "I can walk, you know."

Mass: "I don’t want to let you go."

He carried her upstairs but instead of taking her to bed, he walked into the bathroom and gently lowered her into the bathtub.

Kk: "You're not allowed to take a b@th with me."

Mass stepped into the tub with a sly gr!n.

Mass: "Sorry, what? I can’t hear you over this hot water."

They both laughed, the tension dissolving in the steam and warmth.

After the bath, he lifted her once more and stopped in front of the mirror.

She caught her reflection and gasped.

Kk: "WTF... What did you do? How am I supposed to hide this?"

Her b0dy was c0vered in deep red and purple m@rks, each one a b0ld decl@ration.

Mass smirked, his expression unapologetic.

Kk: "How can I hide so many h!ckeys?!"

Mass: "Then don’t hide them."

Kk: "Are you out of your mind?! It’s so embarrassing!"

He k!ssed the back of her neck, his voice a possessive whisper.

Mass: "They’re my marks. That means you only belong to me."

Kk: "Possessive? Or toxic?"

Mass: "Whatever you want to believe... I can become whatever you think."

She slapped his chest playfully.

Kk: "Do you have any clothes here?"

Mass: "Why do you need cl0thes? You look beautiful with9ut them."

Kk: "So I’m not beautiful with cl0thes?"

Mass: "That’s not what I meant."

Kk: "Then what do you mean?"

Mass: "I mean... you look more beautiful with0ut them."

Kk: "You're too sh@meless."

Mass: "Thank you. I’ll take that as a compliment."

Kk: "Just give me clothes!

He handed her one of his hoodies.

Kk: "And for the bottom?"

Mass: "I don’t have any."

Kk: "Such a liar."

He laughed, eyes dancing with mischief.

Mass: "I just don’t want to cover those m!lky l£gs from my eyes."

She sl@pped his b@re che$t again with a chuckle.

They finally dressed, Kk wearing only his oversized hoodie that barely covered her th!ghs.

Kk: "You always tell me, 'Don’t stare at me.' Now it’s my turn—don’t stare at me!"

Mass: "I said that because I hoped you’d react, get angry... give me any kind of attention."

Kk: "But you never get what you want, do you?"

---

She burst into laughter, teasing him as they sat on the bed. Mass gently pulled her into his lap, holding her close.

Mass: "So... what do you want to know about me?"

Kk: "A lot. But let’s make it a game—one question each."

Mass: "Fair enough."

Kk: "I go first. What’s your business?"

Mass: "Clothing, perfume, stocks, trading... a few other investments."

She nodded thoughtfully.

Kk: "Your turn."

Mass: "Do you still think marrying me was a mistake?"

Her eyes softened.

Kk: "Never. Not for a second."

He smiled and kissed her cheek.

Kk: "Now—ever had a girlfriend before me?"

Mass hesitated.

Kk: "Say it."

Mass: "I don’t want to."

She tugged him closer by the hoodie, voice sharp but playful.

Kk: "I don’t share. If you ever loved someone else, I’ll kill her, then you... then myself."

He smiled.

Mass: "That day won’t come. And no—I never had one before you."

Kk: "Good answer. Your turn."

Mass: "What do you hate most?"

Kk: "Lies."

Mass fell silent. He still hadn’t told her the truth about being in the mafia.

The questions continued until—

Mass: "Why were you so cold in college? You had love around you… what made you so distant?"

She turned away, smile fading.

Kk: "I’m adopted."

Mass: "I know."

Kk: "Only I found out. Dad doesn’t know I know. I heard it at eight. Since then, I felt... unloved. Different."

Her voice cracked.

Kk: "That’s one reason I hate the mafia. There’s more... but not now. Just know—I love you. And our child."

Tears welled up. Before one could fall, Mass pulled her into his arms.

Mass: "Shhh... you have me now. I’ll be everything you ever missed. Just call me—I’ll be there faster than a heartbeat. Even if you’re wrong, I’ll stand beside you."

She held him tightly.

Mass: "Let’s go home now."

Kk: "Yeah... I’ll go change."

--

Later, at home:

Meera: "Welcome home! So it’s official now? Husband and wife?"

Kk: "Yes."

Meera: "Credit goes to us, right?"

Kk: "Not just a little—the whole credit. That prank made me realize I love him."

Samar: "Dad! Because of us, she accepted you!"

Mass: "So what do you want in return?"

Jadav: "A trip to Dubai!"

Meera: "Brilliant idea!"

Sahil: "Only boys though."

Everyone laughed.

Kk: "We’ll plan a girls’ trip soon."

Meera: "Thank you, Mom!"

Mass: "Where are we going?"

Samar: "Lunch, Dad!"

Kk: "We already ate. You all go ahead."

Meera: "Bye!"

Their laughter echoed as they left.

Kk: "Oh my baby... playing alone? Come, Mama will play with you."

She scooped up her daughter while Mass worked nearby.

Kk: "I’m posting pictures. Jadav sent me some from yesterday."

Mass: "Only on your private account."

Kk: "Why?"

Mass: "I don’t like sharing our personal life."

Kk: "Alright, fine."

She posted a few sweet moments privately.

--

Elsewhere…

Aaisha: "Wait... what?!"

Nargis: "What happened?!"

Aaisha: "Look at these photos!"

Nargis: "WHAT?! Is this real?! I need to see her now!"

Aaisha: "Same!"

Nargis (to group chat): "Did you all see Kk’s latest post?"

Ali: "No, what happened?"

Shagun: "Why? What’s going on?"

Abhimanyu: "Something big?"

Aaisha: "JUST. LOOK. AT. THE. PHOTOS."

Phones lit up one by one.

Sinem: "Ohhh, damn..."

Ali: "Finally! The man gets his gem!"

Laughter erupted through texts and voice notes.

Aaisha: "We’re going tomorrow."

Sinem: "Count me in."

Ali, Shagun, Abhimanyu: "I’m in!"

Nargis: "Let’s give them a surprise they’ll never forget."

Next Day

They were lounging in the living room. The atmosphere was warm, relaxed—Mass was at home, sitting beside Kk when the front door opened suddenly.

??: "Surprise!"

Kk’s eyes widened as she shot up from the couch. Aaisha and Nargis rushed toward her and wrapped her in a tight hug.

Before Kk could say anything, Sinem pointed at her with narrowed eyes.

Sinem: "We're not here for you two."

Shagun: "Yeah, we came to see our niece."

Kk folded her arms, tongue pressed to the inside of her cheek, feigning annoyance.

Ali: "Some people around here didn’t think it was important to invite us to the wedding."

Abhimanyu: "And didn’t even call us after the patch-up. Rude."

They all laughed, the air light with mischief and teasing. Mass stood up and walked over, exchanging hugs with everyone.

Mass: "Come in, sit. Did you all have lunch?"

Ali: "Yeah, we ate on the way."

Sinem: "We saw your photos yesterday and nearly fainted."

Aaisha: "We had to come."

Nargis: "So? How’s the newly patched-up couple?"

Kk: shrugging slightly "It just happened."

Shagun: "No, no. We need the full story."

Mass: grinning "Then you’ll have to wait for our home reporter. She’ll narrate everything with sound effects and emotions."

Aaisha: laughing "Meera?"

Kk: "Exactly."

Laughter echoed again. Just then, the kids entered.

Meera: "Oh my God! You guys are here!"

She flung her arms around Aaisha and Nargis.

Nargis: "We’ve been waiting for you."

Meera: "Why?"

Aaisha: "To hear the whole confession story."

Meera: gasps dramatically "Then sit tight—I’m spilling everything!"

Mass: "You all carry on. I have to head to the office—something urgent."

Abhimanyu: "We’ll tag along."

Ali: "Yeah, what are we gonna do here? It’s clearly a girls' gossip fest."

Sinem: "True. You guys can go."

The men left, and the girls moved to Kk’s room, flopping onto the bed like old times.

Nargis: "Okay, Meera. Spill the tea."

Meera animatedly recounted everything—how they pranked Kk, the surprise, the proposal, every bit of the chaos and charm.

Shagun: eyes wide "Wait—you proposed to him?!"

Kk nodded sheepishly.

Sinem: "Kk proposing to someone? I need to sit down."

Aaisha: "Okay, okay, what happened after that?"

Meera: "I also want to know!"

Kk: "Nothing much happened."

Nargis: glaring "Liar."

Kk: "You all must be tired. Why don’t you rest?"

Shagun: "Not until we hear everything."

Kk: gesturing to Meera "She’s still a child—don’t teach her nonsense."

Meera: "Excuse me, I’m 18+. And this is educational."

Aaisha: "Exactly. Don’t blame her."

Kk: sighs dramatically "Fine."

Meera: "Wait, wait. Do the mimicry of Dad! Please!"

Nargis: "Yes! That’s the best part."

Kk: "No way."

Aaisha: "Pleaseee."

Kk: relenting "Okay. So we went for dinner. And I told him, 'Please don’t make me regret choosing you.'"

She changed her voice to mimic Mass’ deep tone.

Kk: "'Just once, trust me. Hold my hand, and I’ll show you what forever really means.'"

Aaisha: swooning "Oooooooh! He’s that romantic?!"

Kk: "I didn’t expect it either."

Nargis: "Keep going."

Kk: "After dinner, we went to his apartment. I asked, ‘So you’re mine now?’ He said, ‘I’ve been yours since the day I met you.’ Then—"

She deepened her voice again.

Kk: "'If you wanna know if I was a playboy, you should’ve been born earlier.'"

Kk: "'And I don’t like my Queen saying please to anyone—not even me.'"

Meera: laughing "You’re too good at this!"

But unknown to Kk, three silent witnesses stood behind her—Mass, Ali, and Abhimanyu—watching the whole performance.

Mass crossed his arms, poked his tongue into his cheek, trying not to laugh.

Mass: playfully "Fabulous acting."

Kk spun around, eyes wide in panic. She then turned her face away like nothing happened.

Sinem: "Wait, weren’t you at the office?!"

Ali: "We got to the parking lot—then they called to cancel the meeting."

Mass walked toward Kk. She backed up until her back hit his chest.

Mass: "I didn’t know you could mimic me that well."

Ali and Abhimanyu burst into laughter.

Kk: "Don’t laugh! How much did you hear?!"

Mass: "Starting from ‘After dinner, we went to the apartment.’"

Kk glared at her friends.

Kk: "So... basically, everything."

Mass suddenly bent down, lifted her in his arms, and carried her to the couch.

Kk: shrieking "Put me down!!"

Everyone laughed harder.

He sat down with her in his lap and began tickling her, making her laugh uncontrollably.

Mass: "My own personal mimicry artist."

He k!ssed her cheek lovingly.

Sinem: "So, when are you getting officially married again?"

Kk: catching her breath "We haven’t talked about that yet."

Mass: smirking "But I have. Right after Sinem and Shagun get married to Abhimanyu."

Everyone froze.

Ali: "What?!"

Abhimanyu: "How the he|| did you know?!"

Aaisha: "Wait, you’re in a relationship? And didn’t tell us?"

Nargis: "I thought Kk was the secretive one. But you guys..."

Kk: "Even I didn’t know!"

Sinem: "How did you find out?"

Mass: "I have my ways."

Shagun: "Tell us already!"

Aaisha: teasingly "Obviously, he knows because he’s a ma—"

Everyone's eyes widened.

Nargis quickly clapped a hand over Aaisha’s mouth.

Kk: "What? He’s... a ma—?"

Aaisha: "*Ma—*man with power. Obviously."

Kk: "Ohh."

Everyone collectively exhaled.

Later That Evening,

Everyone was in the living room, except Kk.

Ali: "So... when are you telling her you’re not just a businessman?"

Mass: sighing deeply "Not now. It’s only been three days since things fell into place. I don't want to ruin it."

Aaisha: "You know she hates lies, right?"

Mass: "I know... I just don’t know how to tell her yet."

Nargis: "You should ask dad. Maybe he can help you understand her hate for the mafia."

Mass: "Good idea."

He called Mr. Kaif.

Mass: "Good evening, sir."

Mr. Kaif: "Good evening, Mass."

Mass: "I hope you don’t mind, but... there’s something I need to ask."

Mass explained briefly.

Mr. Kaif: after a pause "I’m sorry, son. That’s something you’ll have to hear from her—if and when she’s ready."

Mass: "I understand. Thank you, sir."

He hung up.

Ali: "Well?"

Mass: "He said... ask her directly."

Sinem: "Then that’s what

you should do."

Mass: "Yeah. I will."

All: "We’re leaving tomorrow afternoon."

Mass: "Alright. Thanks for being here."
