They quietly begin to eat breakfast. The table feels colder than usual, tension hanging in the silence like a storm cloud.
Kk and Shen enter the house. Her heels click softly on the floor. She walks straight to the table, her face unreadable. She pulls out a chair and sits down with calculated calmness.
Nargis: "Where were you so early in the morning?"
Kk: "To meet the lawyer."
Meera: "Lawyer? Why?"
Kk: Her voice sharp, cutting through the air like a blade "FOR THE DIVORCE PROCESS."
Samar: Shocked "What?"
Aaisha: Eyes wide "Are you being serious right now?"
Kk simply nods, her expression a mix of pa!n and steely determination.
Meera: Tears brimming "You can’t do that!"
Kk: Her voice rising with restrained fury "Why can’t I? When you all thought it was okay to hide the truth from me, why is it wrong for me to take a step for myself? You’re always on your dad’s side, then go to him! What are you doing here?"
Aaisha: "Don’t take it out on the kids, they don’t deserve this."
Kk: With a bitter smile "No, they don’t. Just like I didn’t deserve to be lied to. But you all did it anyway. When my own sisters kept the truth from me from the very beginning... why should I expect anything better?"
Nargis: Defensive, yet regretful "We had no choice... Dad made us promise."
Kk: "Of course. You always follow Dad, don’t you? Blind obedience, even when it de$troys someone else's life."
Meera: Desperate "You’re not allowed to leave us!"
Kk: Coldly "Why not? You already have a new mother figure now. Go live with her. You don’t need me anymore."
Kk eats slowly, her tone calm but her eyes bu®ning with unshed tears. She finishes her food with finality.
Kk: "I’m done."
She gets up, ignoring Meera, who is trembl;ng on the verge of tears. Kk walks away, heading to her room, each step echoing her detachment.
Sahil: Gently "Don’t cry, Meera. She’s just @ngry right now... she didn’t mean it."
Aaisha: "We need to talk to your dad."
Meera dials her father's number with trembling fingers.
Meera: "Dad... can you tell me when you’ll be coming home?"
Surya: "Tonight. Why? What’s wrong, sweetheart?"
Meera: Tears falling as she speaks "Dad..."
Surya: Worried "Why are you crying? What happened?"
Nargis: Taking the phone "Jivs... Kk went to a lawyer today. She’s starting the divorce process."
Surya: Stern and calm "Don’t worry. I won’t let it happen."
Meera: Whispers "Promise? She won’t leave us?"
Surya: Firmly "Promise. Your mom will stay with us. I’ll make it right."
Meera: "Okay... Bye, Dad."
At night, Kk descends the staircase like a goddess from another world. She’s wearing a sleek black cocktail dress that hugs her curves like it was made for her. Her hair is left open, cascading like waves down her back. A luxurious furry jacket rests gently on her shoulders. She radiates confidence, mystery, and heartbreak.
Aaisha: Whistles teasingly "Wow. And where exactly are you going, looking this h0t and $exy?"
Shen stares at her, his jaw practically on the floor, mesmerized.
Nargis: Curious "Where to?"
Kk: "Club."
Meera: "Wait... just wait a second."
Kk: "Why?"
Meera opens her mouth to speak, but Aaisha ¢uts in with a playful tone.
Aaisha: "We’re coming too!"
Kk: Smirking "I’m going. You want to come? Tag along."
Meera: Softly "I’m not coming."
Nargis: "Okay, me and Aaisha will join you."
Kk: Turning to Shen with a grin "Close your mouth, Shen, and let’s go."
Everyone turns to look at Shen. He snaps out of his daze, cheeks flushed.
Shen: Awkwardly "Yes, Ma’am."
Kk smirks at his response, clearly enjoying his discomfort. She and Shen walk out together.
Nargis: Turning to Meera "You sure you don’t want to come?"
Meera: "Dad will be here in an hour."
Aaisha: "I’ll text him the address. He can come straight to the club."
Samar: Quietly hopeful "Maybe... just maybe they can finally talk and fix this mess."
Aaisha and Nargis head to their rooms to get ready.
Inside the car, Kk stares out the window, her face unreadable. Shen glances at her as he starts driving.
Shen: Smiling slightly "If your husband sees you tonight... he’d be speechless."
Kk: Without looking at him "I don’t dress to impress him."
Shen chuckles, his gaze back on the road.
Kk: Raises an eyebrow "What’s with that smile?"
Shen: "You still have feelings for him. It shows."
Kk: Softly "I know. I never said I didn’t."
They arrive at the club. The place is buzzing with music, lights flashing, people dancing. Kk and Shen step inside. Kk orders a drink, her aura drawing attention. After a while, Aaisha and Nargis arrive and join her.
Aaisha: Raising her glass "It’s been ages since we dr@nk like this!"
Kk: Dryly "Yeah... maybe if you hadn’t kept secrets from me, we could’ve done this every day like old times."
Nargis: F®ustrated "Fine! We made a mistake. We’re sorry. Please, stop throwing jabs every second."
Kk rolls her eyes and sips her drink. The music picks up. Aaisha grabs both her sisters.
Aaisha: "Let’s dance!"
The three women move to the dance floor, laughter mixing with music, drinks in their hands, their movements carefree — or trying to be.
Just then, Surya walks into the club. His eyes immediately find Kk on the dance floor. His breath catches. She's surrounded by men, their hands too bold, her body too close. She isn’t stopping them. Jealousy, @nger, pa!n—everything twists inside him. He walks to the b@r, orders a beer, and watches her with a clenched jaw.
Then it happens — Kk slips. A man gra?@bs her by the waist to keep her from falling. That’s all it takes.
Surya stands, rage bu®ning behind his eyes. He starts to move toward her.
Shen: Intercepting him "Ma’am told me not to let you near her."
Surya gra]@bs Shen’s jacket aggressively.
Surya: Growling "Don’t you d@re stop me. She’s my wife. You don’t get to come between us."
He pushes past Shen, his blazer now in his hand. He storms onto the dance floor.
Kk: Surprised "You... What are you—"
Surya gr@bs her wrist, y@nks her toward him. He throws his blazer around her waist, shielding her from wandering eyes. Without another word, he bends down and lifts her onto his shoulder like she weighs nothing. The club watches in stunned silence.
Shen starts to move again, but Aaisha stops him.
Aaisha: "No. Let her go. This needs to happen."
Kk: Pounding his back "Put me down!"
He opens the car door and places her gently but firmly into the seat.
Kk: @ngrily "I’m talking to you!"
He doesn’t answer. He walks around to the driver’s seat, gets in, starts the engine, and drives off.
Kk: Seething "I don’t want to go anywhere with you."
But Surya says nothing, his silence louder than any argument. The road ahead is d@rk... uncertain... and filled with everything they've left unsaid.
---
She didn’t get a reply from him. Silence stretched between them like a wall. She folded her arms tightly across her chest, her heart aching, and turned her gaze out of the window, hiding the storm within. The car eventually came to a stop in front of one of his houses—isolated, quiet, almost too peaceful for what her heart carried.
He stepped out without a word and walked to her side. With deliberate tenderness, he opened the door and without giving her a chance to protest, he scooped her into his arms.
Kk: "I can walk," she muttered, her voice low but laced with defiance.
But he didn’t listen. He simply carried her inside.
He walked straight to the bedroom, as if the whole world didn’t exist beyond those walls. He placed her gently on the bed, like she was something fragile, breakable.
Then, he sat down in front of her—close, yet not touching. His eyes searched her face like he was trying to memorize it again.
Surya: "I want to talk to you."
Kk: "I don’t want to hear it."
His jaw tightened as he clenched it with a slow breath, controlling the emotions threatening to spill.
Surya: "But I need to talk to you."
Kk turned her face away from him, refusing to meet his eyes. She couldn’t bear the weight of them.
Surya: "Yes… I am a mafia. My real identity is Surya. I hid it because I know you don’t accept the mafia world, and you’d never choose someone like me if you knew. You’ve always been clear about your hatred for this life. But I just—wanted to be loved for who I am, not for my power or name. Just for me."
His voice cracked as he continued.
Surya: "You know how deeply I love you. For you, I’ll always be Mass—not Surya. Just the man who loves you beyond words."
He paused, then confessed with calm agony.
Surya: "Shaili and I got married four years ago. It was a deal, nothing more. Her parents pushed it through for business reasons. We divorced later, but before it was finalized, her family was k!lled by one of my r!vals. She stayed… to help me manage things in India. We’re not married. Not anymore. Not even emotionally."
Her eyes welled up with silent tears.
Surya: "Don’t cry… I h@te seeing pain in your eyes. Please."
Kk: "But that’s all you’ve ever given me… pa!n."
Surya moved forward and wrapped his arms around her, trying to hold together the pieces she felt were breaking.
Surya: "I miss you more than you’ll ever know."
She stayed motionless in his arms. Then, slowly, she pushed him back by his chest.
Kk: "I’m leaving. You said you wanted to talk—I’ve heard enough."
She stood to go, but he grabbed her wrist firmly, yet not to hu®t—just enough to stop her. His other hand slid around her waist, drawing her close again.
Surya: "You already know, don’t you? I won’t sign those divorce papers. I won’t let you leave."
Kk: "I don’t want this life. I don’t want you. I don’t want to live in fear. I h@te everything you stand for."
His grip on her waist t!ghtened, de$peration in his touch.
Surya: "Then look into my eyes… and say it again."
She turned her face sh@rply, refusing.
Kk: "Leave me. I want to go home."
Surya: "No. I’m not letting you go. Say whatever you want, scre@m if you need to—but I won’t let you leave me again."
Kk: "I said… LET ME GO!"
Her voice rang out with raw @nger, trembl!ng with pa!n.
He stepped back, releasing her, but only to make his next move.
Surya: "You have two choices. ONE—You stay here with me, just like before… OR TWO—You sh00t me and live your life as if I never existed."
Her eyes widened in disbelief. He walked to the table, pulled out his £un, and placed it there. The cold metal echoed slightly as it touched the surface.
Kk: "Is this blackmail? Or are you mocking my love?"
Surya: "You just admitted it. You love me. Then why do you want a d!vorce?"
Kk: "Because love isn't enough. You live in a world I despise. You lied to me about your name, your past. You have your ex-wife in your house. Where do I fit in, Surya? What is my place in your life?"
Surya: "She lives in my house. But you live in my heart. She’s not my future—you are. My world begins and ends with you. Why can’t you see that?"
Kk: "Then you’ll do two things—FIRST, you tell her to leave that house. SECOND, you walk away from this mafia life."
Surya: "I won’t. I can’t do either of those things."
Kk: "Then let me go. I’ll raise our child on my own. I don’t need you."
Surya: "I will never leave you. Not now. Not ever."
Kk: "Why is it so hard for you to understand? If you loved me, you’d change. Just do this one simple thing for me."
A beat of silence.
Kk: "Do you still love her?"
Surya: "Kat… don’t make assumptions."
Kk: "I’m not assuming. I’m just telling you what I see."
Surya: "Just like you still love your ex-boyfriend?"
Kk: "DON’T YOU D@RE BRING HIM INTO THIS!"
Surya: "Why not? You brought up Shaili. Why can’t I talk about your past?"
Kk: "Please, Surya… don’t."
Surya: "He’s the reason you hate the mafia, isn’t he?"
She didn’t answer.
Surya: "Answer me, Kat."
Kk: "You want to know? Then listen—"
Her voice quivered, but her eyes were fierce with sorrow.
Kk: "His name was Kero Walton. He was in the Italian mafia. I met him four years ago, during a business meeting in Bangkok. He came with his father, and I was with mine. We became friends… and then more than that. He proposed. I said yes. Everything felt perfect—our families approved, we had plans."
She paused, the memory choking her.
Kk: "And then… it all ended. One day, he was k!dnapped by Mathu Parker—the Spanish mafia lord. I didn’t know Mathu had feelings for me. He demanded that I marry him if I wanted Kero alive. We went to Spain, tried to settle it. But during the confrontation, Mathu aimed a £un at me… and Kero took the bu||et instead. He d!ed in my arms."
Te@rs streamed freely down her cheeks now.
Kk: "Do you know what his last words were?"
She took a shuddering bre@th, recounting every word as though they were etched into her soul.
Kk: "Shen—his bodyguard—he told him, ‘Don’t leave her side until she finds someone who’ll treat her like a queen.’ And then… to me, he said: ‘Be happy. Be strong. You are everything to me. Don’t regret anything. I’m glad I took the sh0t for you. Please allow yourself to be loved again. Don’t become cold. In the next life, I promise I won’t leave you. I love you so much. Goodbye…’”
She broke down and sat at the edge of the bed, bu®ying her face in her hands. The pa!n was fresh again, reopened.
Surya moved forward slowly. He cupped her face, gently wiping her te@rs, and pressed his forehead against hers.
Surya: "Don’t cry, please. That chapter is over. I swear on everything, I won’t let anything happen to you again. No one can touch you—not as long as I’m breathing."
Surya: "Did you ever see Mathu again after that?"
She shook her head softly.
Surya: "Kk never took ®evenge? That doesn’t sound like the woman I know."
Kk: "How could I? I had my sisters, my dad… I couldn’t risk their lives for ®evenge. I couldn’t be se|fish."
Surya nodded slowly, understanding etched in his eyes.
Surya: "Fine. Let’s leave that for now. We’ll talk tomorrow."
Kk: "Surya, I…"
He placed a finger gently on her lips.
Surya: "Shhh… not now. I just want to be with you tonight. I missed you so much."
Surya: "Did you eat anything?"
Kk: "Yes… but I have a headache."
Surya: "Alright. Change into something comfortable. I’ll get you something to help with that."
She changed quietly, slipping into one of his hoodies. It still smelled like him. That familiar scent wrapped around her like a memory. She sat on the bed, exhausted.
He came back into the room holding a glass of lemon juice.
Surya: "Here. Drink this."
She took the glass from him with both hands—trembling, unsure—but she drank.
And for a moment, the storm paused.
Surya: "You looked absolutely beautiful today… but I'd prefer if you wore something like that only when I'm around, when it's just us."
Kk: "Why? I have every right to wear what I want, Surya."
Surya: His jaw tightened, his eyes darkening with suppressed rage. "The way that bastard touched you… I swear I'll kill him with my bare hands. And next time, tell your bodyguard to never stand between me and you again. I won't tolerate it."
Kk rolled her eyes in exasperation, her expression unreadable as she picked up the glass from the table and placed it gently on the side.
Kk: "I'm tired. I want to sleep."
She didn’t wait for a reply as she climbed into bed, yanking the blanket over herself like it was a shield. Her silence screamed louder than words.
Surya stood there for a moment, watching her. Then without a word, he slid under the blanket and laid beside her. Her back pressed lightly against his chest—a barrier, yet an invitation.
Slowly, he moved his hand to her stomach, resting it there before pulling her closer. His touch was possessive, desperate, tender.
Kk: in a low, warning tone "Don't touch me."
Ignoring her resistance, he leaned forward, his breath warm against her ear.
Surya: whispering "How can I not? How can I resist touching my sexy, hot, and breathtakingly beautiful wife?"
Though she fought it, a faint blush painted her cheeks. She turned her face away, hoping he wouldn't notice.
Surya: smirking against her skin "It's okay to blush. Don't try to hide it."
Kk: "I'm not."
His lips found the nape of her neck, planting soft kisses that traveled to the side. He nipped gently at her earlobe.
Surya: "Liar."
She felt a moan bubble in her throat, but she bit her lower lip hard to hold it in.
He reached for her face and gently turned it toward him. His lips brushed against her chin in a kiss that was both loving and tormenting.
Surya: murmuring "I swear to God, one day… your eyes will be the death of me."
Kk: half-smiling "I can kill any man with just a look."
Surya: "You're not allowed to look at other men."
Kk: teasing "Are you jealous?"
Surya: "If I looked at other women, would you be jealous?"
Kk: "I asked first."
Surya: "Then my answer is the same as yours."
Kk: softly "Fine."
He captured her lips in a deep, passionate kiss that made time pause. For a while, nothing existed except them. But after a moment, Kk pulled away gently, her gaze steady.
Kk: "This might be our last day together... if you choose your mafia life tomorrow."
Surya kissed her forehead softly, lingering there as if trying to memorize the feel of her.
Surya: "We’ll talk about it tomorrow."
They held each other tightly that night, like it was the last time, and eventually drifted to sleep.
---
Next morning…
Surya opened his eyes slowly, the morning light slipping into the room. His gaze immediately found Kk, sleeping peacefully beside him. A smile curved her lips even in sleep, and something in his chest ached.
Surya: softly, brushing her hair back "I hope you always smile like this… for the rest of your life."
He kissed her forehead gently and got out of bed. Moving quietly, he walked to the kitchen and began preparing lunch.
After a while, he returned to the bedroom, a soft smile on his face.
Surya: "Kat....."
He sat beside her, caressing her cheek and brushing his thumb along her lips.
Surya: "Come on, wake up."
She stirred, her eyes fluttering open.
Surya: "Good morning, my love."
Kk: still groggy but firm "You said you’d tell me your decision today. Now tell me."
Surya: sighing "I said good morning. Please… have patience. I’ll tell you today."
Kk rolled her eyes, clearly not pleased, and got out of bed without another word.
Surya: "Go and get ready. Lunch is almost done."
He headed back to the kitchen. Meanwhile, Kk showered and put on his hoodie, the sleeves slightly long on her, the scent of him wrapped around her. She sat in front of the mirror, combing her hair slowly, her thoughts a whirlwind.
"Please, let your decision be me," she thought. "If you choose the mafia... it changes everything. I won’t trust it again. I won’t survive it again. I’ve already lost too much once."
She walked to the kitchen and sat at the dining table, quiet and distracted.
Surya placed a pasta dish in front of her. She took a bite, chewing without focus, lost in her head.
Surya: "Does it not taste good?"
His voice snapped her out of her daze. She looked at him.
Kk: "It’s good. As always."
Surya: watching her carefully "Then what’s running through your mind?"
Kk: softly "I’m wondering... is this the last time I’m eating pasta with you? Or will there be more days like this?"
Surya: "Why do you think like that, Kat?"
Kk: tears threatening to rise "Because... everything depends on your decision."
Surya: "Then let me ask you one last thing."
Kk: bracing herself "What?"
Surya: looking into her soul "Can you give me your entire day? Just me and you. No ‘no’s. Just us."
Kk: a bitter smile "Should I take this as your last wish… before we end everything?"
Surya: with a heavy heart "Call it what you want."
She blinked back the tears as she continued eating in silence, her appetite gone. After a moment, she stood and turned away.
Kk: "If this is your final wish… I’ll fulfill it. I’ll go change. Wait for me."
She walked back to the bedroom, locking the door behind her. As soon as she sat on the bed, the tears poured freely.
Kk: whispering to herself through sobs "I really thought you'd choose me. But it’s okay. I’ve been here before. I survived then... I can do it again. But God, why does everyone I love leave me? You were my everything, Surya."
She changed into a clean outfit and wore oversized goggles to hide her swollen, teary eyes.
When she came down the stairs, Surya was waiting.
Surya: softly, reaching for her face "You know… hiding tears is a crime."
He gently removed her goggles, revealing her tear-stained face. He cupped her cheeks with such tenderness that it broke her again.
Surya: "Are these… because of me?"
Her eyes welled up again, and she couldn’t stop the new tears from spilling. He pulled her into a deep embrace, holding her like he never wanted to let go, gently rubbing the back of her head.
Kk: through her tears "I love you. Please, Surya… change your decision. I don’t have strength in me to start over again. I can’t. I lost everything once, and this time… I’ll lose myself too."
Her voice cracked, her vulnerability laid bare.
Surya: pulling back, wiping her tears "I told you once… don’t assume the worst before it happens. Please don’t cry. It kills me."
He kissed her softly, then rested his forehead against hers.
Surya: "Let’s go."
Kk: sniffing "Where?"
Surya: smiling faintly "It’s a surprise… just for you."
Will he choose her or not?
What is the surprise?
