They sit in the car, a quiet calm between them as the engine starts.
He drove her to the salon.
Kk: looking puzzled "Why are we at the salon?"
Surya: getting out of the car "Come with me. Trust me."
Everything was already arranged. The salon staff welcomed her with warmth, clearly well-prepared and briefed.
After some time, her makeover was complete.
She stepped out slowly.
She looked different—more casual, more grounded. Her aura softened, now resembling an everyday woman with no trace of the powerful figure she often had to be.
She looked at him, her eyes searching his.
He had changed too—wearing a casual T-shirt and jeans. His hair tied back loosely, his charm untouched by simplicity.
Kk: confused "I don’t get it."
Surya: "Come with me. I’ll clear the confusion."
They stepped out of the salon together.
Kk: "Come on, why are you just standing here? The car won't come to us."
Surya: smirking "We’re not taking the car. We’re taking a taxi today. This spot... we're waiting here."
Kk: blinking in disbelief "What?"
Surya: softly, sincerely "This is your surprise. Today, I want us to live like a regular couple. No mafia, no business, no bodyguards, no name or fame—just us. Like any other couple."
Kk: a small smile playing on her lips "I’ve never done that before..."
Surya: holding her hand gently "Exactly. That’s why it’s a surprise."
She glanced down at their intertwined hands, then looked up at him—his posture relaxed, his smile genuine.
She couldn’t help but smile too.
Surya: "If you smile like that again... I swear we’ll end up back in £ed."
Kk: gasps, whispering "We’re in public, how can you talk like that?"
Surya: grinning "I’m not talking to just anyone. I’m talking to my wife."
Their taxi arrived and they got in. They reached the theatre soon after.
Kk: looking around, wide-eyed "This is my first time at a theatre."
Surya: nodding "I know. There were so many things you should’ve experienced in college but didn’t."
Kk: "We always used to watch movies at home. It became a habit."
They bought popcorn and drinks, walking through the crowd like just another couple. She looked around, amazement dancing in her eyes.
They sat down in their seats.
Surya’s eyes kept drifting to her, watching her expressions, her little gasps, her excited laughter. She was so engrossed in the movie, she didn’t notice him watching her more than the screen.
Her smile was infectious. It made his heart @che in the best way.
After the movie ended, they stepped out into the evening air.
Kk: giddy "That was amazing! I loved it! So much fun. I never knew it would be this good! So... where next?"
Surya: teasing "Do you ever have patience? You’ve already asked questions in one sentence."
Kk: smirking "Because I have someone who actually answers even my silliest questions."
He chuckled at her words and lovingly placed a hand on her head, stroking her hair with a tenderness that made her ch$st warm.
Surya: "I love you."
Kk: "You don’t get to say that without consequences. Give me your answer first... only then I’ll know if I should say I love you too... or that I hate you."
Surya: laughing softly "Alright, my lady."
They sat in another taxi. The sun had begun its descent.
After a while, they reached the beach. The sky had turned golden.
Kk: breathing in the salty breeze "It’s beautiful here..."
She spotted an ice cream shop nearby.
Kk: "I’m totally in the mood for ice cream."
Surya: amused "Ice cream? It’s already cold out here."
Kk: "Still... I want some. Let’s go!"
She grabbed his hand like an excited child.
Surya: smiling, letting her pull him "Alright, alright. Let’s go."
They walked on the beach, both holding ice cream cones. He handed her his halfway through.
Surya: "Take it."
She took his without hesitation, confused as he suddenly knelt down.
She blinked, wondering what he was doing.
Then she saw it—her shoelace was untied.
He tied it for her, slow and careful.
People passing by stole glances at the romantic moment.
She smiled, her heart swelling.
Surya: "Done."
He stood, took the ice cream from her again.
Kk: "You’re raising my standards with this kind of stuff."
He laughed, his voice rich and carefree.
Surya: "Didn’t I tell you? I’ll spoil you more than you can ever imagine."
Kk: "And what if you leave me in the middle? How will I survive with these high standards you’ve given me?"
Surya: sincerely "Then don’t stop halfway. I’ll always be there for you."
They found a big rock and sat on it. Surya positioned himself behind her, wr@pping his @rms around her waist and resting his chin on her shoulder.
The sun was almost gone, the sea shimmered in the twilight.
Kk: softly "It’s so beautiful."
Surya: "Just like you."
They sat there silently, sharing the moment. Time seemed to pause.
Surya: "Let’s go. One more surprise is left."
Kk: "I’m excited."
Just then, his bodyguard arrived with the car. They sat in.
Kk: "So... our regular-couple life is over?"
Surya: "Yeah. For now."
They reached his house again and stepped inside.
He handed her a box.
Kk: "What’s this?"
Surya: "Open it. And wear it. We’re going to a party."
Kk: groaning playfully "But I’m tired... I don’t feel like going out again."
Surya: "You said this morning you wouldn’t say no to anything today."
Kk: sighing "Fine..."
She headed into the closet.
When she emerged, she was bre@thtaking.
She wore a black, slit dress—b@ckless, body-hugging. Her blonde hair cascaded freely, and her blue eyes gleamed like stars. Her cu®ves—elegant and bold—radiated a confidence that could make any man l0se control.
Kk: smiling "You look so dashing."
He was dressed in a crisp white shirt, black pants, and a sleek black blazer. His half-pony tail added a w!ld charm to his polished look.
Surya: gazing at her "I appreciate the compliment, but I doubt anyone will even notice me. You’re going to keep all the eyes busy tonight."
Kk: "Then let it be known that this woman is already taken."
They both smiled, hearts full.
Surya brought two boxes to the table and suddenly dropped to one knee.
Kk looked at him, confused but curious.
He opened one box—it was a black th!gh h0lster.
Kk: eyes widening "A th!gh h0lster?"
Without a word, he carefully slid it onto her th!gh and secured it in place. Then, pulling out his personal £un from behind his wa!stband, he sl!d it into the h0lster.
Kk: "Why are you giving me this?"
Surya: "For your safety. Just in case."
Kk: "But I don’t need it."
Surya: firmly "I know. But I do."
He opened the second box. Inside were beautiful black heels, elegant and fierce.
He placed them before her feet and helped her into them, fastening the str@p with gentle f!ngers.
Kk: twirling a bit "They’re stunning."
Surya: "Your feet make them look even better."
He stood, adjusting his blazer.
Surya: "Let’s go.
---
They are seated in the car.
The engine hummed softly beneath them as the city lights blurred past. Her fingers tapped nervously on her lap while his hand rested calmly on the gear.
They arrived at the hotel.
The grand hotel loomed in front of them, its golden lights flickering like stars trapped in crystal. A strange silence fell between them.
They come out of the car. He gives her his hand and she tangles her hands around it. They initiate their walk towards the party area.
She accepted his hand without hesitation, gripping it tighter than she usually would—as if grounding herself. Her fingers curled around his palm, and together, they began walking through the paved path, flanked by security and soft instrumental music that wafted through the garden.
They arrive at the entrance to the hall and she inspects the surroundings. She is familiar with a few of them and her eyes widened when she glanced at them.
As they reached the entrance to the ornately decorated hall, her gaze darted around. Chandeliers hung like ice sculptures. Sharp suits, cold glares, hushed whispers. Her eyes locked onto a few familiar faces—faces she never thought she'd see again. Her breath hitched, pupils dilated.
She stops her walk.
Kk: "Is this a gathering of the mafia?"
Surya: "Yes."
Kk: "Why are you bringing me here? You know that I don't like to come to these gatherings."
Surya: "First listen to me."
Kk: "No, I'm not. I will be returning home."
Surya: "You are not."
Kk is about to turn.
Surya: "Mathu is present as well."
Hearing this name, her step stopped at that point.
She holds onto her dress and clenches it. The expression on her face changes.
Her fingers twisted the soft fabric of her gown. Her lips trembled slightly, but her eyes burned with something unspoken—rage, pain, or both.
She glances at him.
Surya: "Yes, he is also at this party."
Kk stares blankly at him because she's not comprehending what he's going to say.
He grasps both of her biceps.
Surya: "Listen... do whatever you want to do with him."
She now comprehends what he is trying to convey, and—Why did he give the £un?
Her eyes widened as the realization dawned like a flame roaring to life inside her.
Kk: "All of them are Mafias here. What happens after I £ill him? Do you even understand what they'll do to us?"
Surya: "Nothing will happen. When I'm here, no one d@res to t0uch you. So don't worry. Just go like the woman I saw 16 months ago. She was fierce, powerful... she wasn’t scared of anyone."
Kk: "But..."
He placed his hands on her cheeks.
Surya: "Kat... you can trust me. Nothing will happen."
Kk nodded her head in agreement.
Surya: "Just think about it—how he took everything from you."
Kk's eyes are filled with fierceness.
Her face hardened. That softness faded into a storm.
Kk: "Okay."
They both commence walking.
The crowd parted slightly as they passed. A storm disguised in elegance.
They go towards where her dad and the mafia boss are standing.
Mr. Kaif: "Oh, Kk?"
Kk: "Yeah, I'm here, Dad. Don’t be surprised."
Mafia Boss: "Are you familiar with her?"
Mr. Kaif: "She is my daughter."
No one knows that she is Surya's wife. Everyone assumes that he simply brought a random woman.
Suddenly, her eyes go to the bar counter where Mathu sat.
Surya knows where she is looking.
Surya whispers in her ear.
Surya: "Go. Don’t be afraid. I’m here."
Kk nodded her head.
She is going towards Mathu.
Each step felt like a drumbeat in her chest. Her heels echoed off the marble floor like £unshots in her ears.
She stroked his shoulder.
Mathu directs his attention towards her.
Mathu: "You?"
Kk: "Yes."
Mathu: "Are you present? You came with your dad, right? Let’s drink."
He gave her a drink.
Kk thought, How can he talk casually when I lost everything because of him once in my life?
She takes out her £un from her thigh holster. Points it at him.
Mathu: "What’s the matter with you?"
Kk: "Because of you, I have lost everything."
Mathu: "Are you mad? This is not a joke. Put down your £un."
As she fi₹es the £un, a bullet hits his chest. Hearing a loud voice, everyone gathers there.
Mathu falls to the floor.
Everyone is pointing their £uns at her.
??: "Who the fuc— are you? Why did you fi₹e the £un?!"
A man tried to grab her arms, but he stopped because he heard a loud voice.
Surya: "SHE IS MY WIFE. DON’T YOU D@RE TO T0UCH HER."
The man backs off. All individuals put their £uns down.
Boss: "What is this, Surya?"
Surya: "Kero did not die in an accident. He was £illed by him. Later, I will give you all the details."
??: "Is she your wife? Seriously?"
Surya: "Is there any reason to not believe in my statement?"
??: "Ahh... Sorry."
Mathu is still alive.
Mathu: "...Please.... Help..... me..."
Kk's hands shiver slightly.
Surya took the £un from her and $hot Mathu in the head.
Everyone widened their eyes.
But no one d@res to stop him or cut him in between.
Surya: "Enjoy the party."
He grabs Kk's hand and goes towards the outside.
She turns her head. Her eyes were looking for someone.
Surya: "Are you looking for someone?"
Kk: "Yes. One of my friends. But I think he is not here."
Surya: "Your friend?"
Kk: "He is the only friend I have in the Mafia."
Surya: "Okay."
They are seated in the car.
He initiates driving. Kk stared at him.
Surya: "Do you want to say anything?"
Kk: "No."
Surya puts his hands on her thighs. He rubbed his hands on her thighs.
Surya: "Relax. Everything is finished."
Kk is about to shed tears.
Kk: "Thank you."
Surya: "I don’t want your thank you. I want something else from you."
Kk: "Nowadays, you are becoming very demanding."
They laughed.
---
They arrive at the restaurant.
They settled into their seats, the soft murmur of the place surrounding them as they ordered their food, both too aware of the conversation that loomed over them.
Surya: "You want to hear my answer, right?"
Kk: "No... I don’t want to hear it anymore."
Surya: "What? Why? You’ve been asking me all day, like a broken record. Now you suddenly don’t want to know?"
Kk: with a faint smirk, eyes narrowing "Because I already know what you're going to say."
Surya: "Oh really? You’re psychic now?"
Kk gave him a sharp look, her lips twitching.
Kk: "Okay, fine. Go ahead. Say it."
Surya: leaning closer, voice firm but filled with warmth "I’m not leaving you. And I don’t want you to give up your position in the mafia either."
Kk: with a knowing sigh "Exactly what I expected."
Surya: "Now it’s your turn. Your answer is still pending."
Kk: bursting into a laugh, eyes glimmering with mischief "I hate you."
Surya: smirking "Liar."
Kk: her voice softening "I never thought I’d love someone else... this deeply. I didn’t even think I could. And now, it’s like—my heart can’t hold all this happiness. How do I even begin to tell you how thankful I am?"
Surya: grinning "You can show me on the bed."
Kk: "Pervert."
He chuckled, pleased with her flustered reaction.
Kk: "Surya…"
Surya: correcting her immediately "Mass. You only use one word for me now—Mass."
Kk: mocking "Alright, Boss."
Mass: pleased "Good."
Kk: "Sometimes, I wonder... are you really that powerful? No one ever stops you."
Mass: "Kat, you’ve only seen a glimpse of who I really am."
Kk: bitterly "Yeah, like how many lies you told me. One after another, peeling off like layers."
Mass: "That was the last one. I swear."
Kk: sarcastic "Sure, I believe you. Totally."
Mass: "Fine. Don’t believe me, then."
Kk: "Okay."
They finished their dinner quietly, stealing glances and small smiles. Once outside, they found his bodyguard waiting, gently rocking the baby in his arms. Kk eagerly took Saumya into her arms, holding her close and planting a kiss on her forehead.
Kk: "Mama missed you, baby."
They slipped into the car, the soft purr of the engine breaking the night’s calm.
Kk: "Why did you bring Saumya with us? We’re just heading home, right?"
Mass: "No, we’re not going home tonight."
Kk: groaning "I’m exhausted, Mass. I just want to sleep."
Mass: "We’re going to the airport. You can rest on the plane."
Kk: eyebrows raising "Can you at least tell me where we’re going?"
Mass: smirking "It’s a surprise."
Kk: sighing dramatically "How many more surprises are you hiding?"
Mass: "This is the last one. Promise."
They reached the private airport. The sleek jet waited on the tarmac, lights glowing under the dark sky. Kk and Saumya both fell asleep as soon as they boarded. Mass gently carried Kk in his arms, while a bodyguard cradled the sleeping baby.
They reached the house—quiet, elegant, and warm.
Mass laid Kk on the bed, then placed Saumya beside her, tucking them both under a soft blanket. He lay down opposite them, watching them for a moment before closing his eyes.
It was already afternoon, but the sky remained cloaked in thick gray clouds. A cool breeze filtered through the curtains.
Kk stirred, slowly waking. She blinked sleepily, seeing Saumya curled up beside her, but no Mass in sight.
Just then, he walked into the room.
Mass: "Get ready. We’re going out for lunch."
Kk: sitting up groggily "Can you at least tell me where we are?"
Mass: with a teasing tone "You’ll know soon."
Kk got ready, dressing herself and then carefully bundling Saumya in a tiny coat. They got into the car once again. As they drove, Kk stared out of the window. Her eyes widened.
Kk: in awe "It’s... Italy."
Mass: "Yes."
Kk: "Why are we in Italy?"
Mass: "You’ll see."
They pulled up to a grand mansion nestled between vineyards and olive trees. The sight hit her like a wave.
Kk: softly "It’s... Kero’s house."
Mass: "Yeah. Let’s go inside."
She hesitated. Her steps faltered. The weight of memory pressed down on her chest—she hadn’t come back since Kero’s d!ed.
Mrs. Walton: "Welcome, my dear."
She pulled Kk into a tight embrace, her voice shaking slightly. Mr. Walton welcomed Surya with a firm handshake and grateful eyes.
Surya: "Thank you."
Mrs. Walton: holding Kk's face "You’ve stayed away for so long since Kero d!ed. I’ve missed you, sweetheart."
Kk: whispering, choked up "Sorry, Mom..."
Mr. Walton: "Let’s sit and talk over lunch."
They sat at the table, warmth returning slowly to the cold edges of Kk’s heart.
Mr. Walton: "We heard what happened yesterday. Thank you, Surya. You did something we could never manage."
Mrs. Walton: "Yeah, that b@stard finally paid the price."
Surya: "Why didn’t you bring it up at the Mafia meeting?"
Mr. Walton: "Kero was our only son. After losing him... we just wanted Kk to be safe. We didn’t want her getting hurt too."
Mrs. Walton: "She’s all we have left. Our only love."
Kk’s eyes filled with tears, her heart aching and full.
Kk: "Thank you... Mom, Dad."
After lunch, they sat in the blooming garden.
Mrs. Walton: smiling as she cradled Saumya "She’s beautiful, just like you."
Mr. Walton: "And those blue eyes! They run in the family."
Everyone laughed gently, the air lighter.
Mr. Walton and Surya went inside to talk business. Kk remained in the garden, sitting beside Mrs. Walton.
Mrs. Walton: with a sad smile "If Kero were alive... I would’ve had a grandchild by now."
Her voice cracked.
Kk: touching her hand "Saumya is your granddaughter. You can come visit her whenever you want."
A little while later, Mr. Walton and Surya returned with coffee in hand.
A bodyguard handed a folder to Mr. Walton.
Mr. Walton: to Kk "This is for you."
She opened the folder and her eyes widened in shock.
Kk: stammering "Dad, I... I can’t accept this."
Mrs. Walton: "It would mean the world to us if you did."
Kk: "But, Mom..."
Mr. Walton: "You’re my daughter. It’s your right."
Surya glanced at the papers and raised his brows.
Surya: "Mr. Walton, this is... it’s too much."
Mr. Walton: "We didn’t give it to you, Surya. We gave it to our daughter. It’s hers."
Mrs. Walton: "No more arguments. You will take it."
Kk: quietly, still stunned "Okay... fine."
Surya: "We’ll take our leave now."
Kk: emotion welling up in her voice "I’m... so happy. Thank you. This means more than you know."
She paused and looked at them with misty eyes.
Kk: "I thought you’d hate me after Kero d!ed... but seeing you smile at Saumya, I feel... peace."
Mass: "I’m glad you liked it."
Kk: holding his hand tightly "I loved it."
They boarded a flight to Australia.
Kk: "I’ll talk to Aaisha about the reunion."
She pulled out her phone and called her friend.
Kk: "Aaisha, we’re planning a reunion at our home. What do you think?"
Aaisha: "We?"
Kk: "Next week, Mass’s college group is coming over for a reunion. It’s the perfect chance for all of us to meet too."
